Let your red flag fly

Dating apps often reward perfection. But real connection happens when you stop performing and start showing up as yourself. Hinge invites you to do this from Day 1. Embrace your flaws, weird habits, and awkward truths because the right person will love you because of them, not in spite of them.

“Hinge gives users a green light to reveal red flags” - The Cut

Red Flag Mode

To encourage users to lead with their authentic selves, we’ll be introducing “Red Flag Mode,” a separate area of the app where everyone can act wild. Including new text, photo, and audio prompts, Red Flag Mode is a place for Hinge users to relax and seek connection in a way that doesn’t feel performative.

Cringe Your Hinge Meetups

We’ll offer users a space to get weird together with Hinge Cringing 101 meetups at bars across the country. Don’t bother leading with your best self. We want the real you. Each space will feature unflattering lighting, mirrorless interiors, and snacks and sips you might find at the airport. These are the authentic tenets you need to find true love. Because you can’t spell “cringe” without “ring”.

Hinge x GQ

In collaboration with GQ Magazine, we’ll be organizing a Red Flag blind date between American comedian Stavros Halkias and British presenter Amelia Dimoldenberg. The duo will head to a restaurant picked by Mr. Halkias’. Everything they order will be picked by Ms. Dimoldenberg. GQ will publish a video Q&A with the pair that will run soon after the date.

Social Illustrations

The campaign will manifest on social media through short form illustrated Tiktok videos and Instagram carousels. We’ll be showcasing little moments where red flags meet and spark connection, accompanied by longer manifestos on the importance of being yourself when it comes to dating.

Red Flag T-Shirts

To celebrate couples who actually led with their red flags, we’re offering customizable t-shirts to the brand new love birds. Any couple who met their significant other on Red Flag mode will be able to mark this off in the app and later receive their merch. Wave your red flag loudly and proudly.
